Defense and Strategic Studies
A retired U.S. Air Force officer with extensive experience in strategic operations, nuclear deterrence, and national security, he was an Instructor/Evaluator on nuclear command-and-control aircraft (E-4B and EC-135) with over 2,700 flight hours. He commanded the 339th Recruiting Squadron, was a Joint Forces Command planner, served on the Headquarters Air Force (Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration) directorate, was a division chief on the Joint Staff (Nuclear Operations, Homeland Defense, and Current Operations), and on the faculty of the National War College, National Defense University, as Assistant Professor of Strategy and Deterrence and Associate Dean of Faculty.
Following his military career, he served as Executive Director of the Louisiana Tech Research Institute and as Associate Dean of the School of Strategic Force Studies at the Air Force Institute of Technology. He is the co-founder and vice president for education of the National Institute for Deterrence Studies, a think tank, and serves as a visiting professor in the School of Defense and Strategic Studies at Missouri State University.
