The School of Defense and Strategic Studies at Missouri State University has a lineage dating back to the early 1970s, when Professor William Van Cleave established a program in Defense and Strategic Studies at the University of Southern California (USC).

Defense and Strategic Studies Online (DASSO) is the flagship publication of the School of Defense and Strategic Studies and features articles by Mo State faculty, students and alumni.

Dr. Christopher Ford serves on the DASSO editorial board along with Dr. Gary L. Geipel, Dr. Kerry M. Kartchner, and Col. Curtis D. McGiffin, USAF (ret.).
